Second by Councilperson <br />Westergren. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays <br />(Councilperson Gay was away from the Council table). <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Lloyd, Matuszak, Porter, <br />Pfeiffer, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />11. Council considered adopting an ordinance updating service <br />credits with Texas Municipal Retirement System. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1507 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING AND ALLOWING, UNDER THE ACT GOVERNING THE TEXAS <br />MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM, "UPDATED SERVICE CREDITS" IN SAID <br />SYSTEM FOR SERVICE PERFORMED BY QUALIFYING MEMBERS OF SUCH <br />SYSTEM WHO PRESENTLY ARE IN THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE; PROVIDING FOR INCREASED PRIOR AND CURRENT SERVICE <br />ANNUITIES FOR RETIREES AND BENEFICIARIES OF DECEASED RETIREES <br />OF THE CITY; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR SUCH <br />ACTIONS <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Westergren to adopt Ordinance <br />1507 as read by the Citv Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Pfeiffer. The motion carried, 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 abstain. <br /> <br />Ayes: CoU"ncilpersons Lloyd, Matuszak, Porter, Pfeiffer, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Waters <br /> <br />12. Council considered approving a resolution urging NASA to keep <br />the Space Station Project at the Johnson Space Center. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 86-24 - A RESOLUTION OF <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, URGING NASA TO KEEP <br />THE SPACE STATION PROJECT AT THE JOHNSON SPACE CENTER. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Skelton to approve Resolution <br />86-24 as read bv the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Westergren. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Lloyd, Matuszak, Porter, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />
