Mr. Barrett presented a beautiful cake to the <br />City, which City employees will share. He also presented a <br />gift certificate to be given to the employee of the year <br />recipient, who will be named in September at the annual <br />employee picnic. <br />6. Doug Latimer, Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, <br />presented an update on the proposed zoning map. He invited <br />members of Council to meet with the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission on September 4 for further discussion on the map. <br />7. Council considered approving plans and give notice to proceed <br />on fire station II. <br />After a presentation on the plans by representatives from <br />PRAXIS, motion was made by Councilperson Matuszak to approve <br />the glans and wive notice to proceed on fire station II. <br />Second by Councilperson Skelton. The motion carried, 6 ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Ed Matuszak, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, <br />B. Don Skelton, Linda Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />8. Council considered an ordinance approving Industrial District <br />agreements. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1508 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION BY THE CITY OF LA PORTE OF <br />INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT AGREEMENTS WITH INDUSTRY WITHIN THE <br />BATTLEGROUND INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT, AND THE BAYPORT INDUSTRIAL <br />DISTRICT, FOR THE SEVEN (7) YEAR PERIOD COMMENCING JANUARY 1, <br />1987. <br />i'`~;tior, was made by Councilpeerson Gay to adopt Ordinance 1508 <br />as read by the Cites Attornev. Second by Councilperson <br />Skelton. The motion carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Matuszak, Porter, Gay, Skelton, <br />Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />9. Council considered an ordinance approving the Affirmative <br />Action Plan. <br />
