His recommendation was for Council to deny Chief Smith's request and for Chief Smith to pursue other avenues of possibly obtaining the needed funds. Council denied Chief Smith's request for funding. The City Manager queried Council as to their wishes regarding a mail-out to citizens advising them of the Town Meeting on August 22. Council generally agreed to the mail-out and the City Manager advised Staff to go ahead with the project. 16. Councilpersons Lloyd, Matuszak, Porter, Skelton, and Mayor Malone brought items to Council's attention. Councilperson Skelton requested that a special called meeting be held before the workshop meeting scheduled for August 17, in order to consider support of a candidate for the Port Commission position in the event that La Porte's selected candidate did not receive the appointment and there was a tie between the other two candidates. 17. Council adjourned into executive session at 7:55 P.M. to discuss the following items: A. Legal - Consult with attorney on sanitary landfill permit hearing Legal - Sweet Pea's alcoholic beverage permit hearing Personnel - Discuss applications of Port Commission candidates Council returned to the Council table at 8:52 P.M. 18. There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was duly adjourned at 8:52 P.M.
