Box 1115 <br />La Porte, TX 77571 <br />Attention: Mr. Steve Gillett <br />Director of Public Works <br />RE: Application for Permit to Lay an 8" Pipeline <br />Union Carbide Corporation Project P-2565 <br />Bayport Hydrogen Pipeline Expansion <br />UL-88-452-001 <br />Gentlemen: <br />Universal Engineering Services, Inc., is acting as agent under a <br />service contract with Union Carbide Corporation, Linde Division, <br />located in Danbury, Connecticut. On behalf of Union Carbide, we <br />hereby request a permit to install, operate and maintain a <br />hydrogen pipeline over and across the land within the City of La <br />Porte as shown on the attached vicinity map and alignment sheets. <br />A construction start date of February 1, 1988 is planned with <br />construction completion scheduled six weeks later. The construc- <br />tion period will be somewhat dependent on the local weather <br />conditions with a slightly longer construction period being pos- <br />sible. <br />The pipeline design is in accordance with all federal, state and <br />local codes and standards including: <br />o ANSI B31.8 - Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping <br />Systems <br />o Part 192 - Transportation of Natural and Other Gas by <br />Pipeline: Minimum Federal Safety Standards, Code of <br />Federal Regulations, Title 49 <br />o Rules and Regulations for the Transportation of Natural <br />and Other Gas by Pipeline, Railroad Commission of <br />Texas, Gas Utilities Division <br />The pipeline shall be installed utilizing the conventional open - <br />cut ditch with bored cased and uncased crossings in accordance <br />with the requirements of the applicable permitting authority for <br />each crossing: All field joints of the line pipe shall be of <br />welded construction in accordance with API Standard 1104 with <br />
