Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />January 25, 1988, Page 2 <br />Mr. Montelongo and his family members came forward and the <br />Mayor gave a brief summary of Mr. Montelongo's achievements <br />during his 18 years' employment. City Manager Bob Herrera <br />then read a plaque of appreciation and presented it to him. <br />Curtis Herrod presented Mr. Montelongo a watch from the <br />City in appreciation of his service to the City. <br />Mr. Montelongo thanked members of Council and the City for <br />their consideration and expressed his pleasure at having <br />worked for the City of La Porte. <br />5. Dr. Genie Suhr addressed Council regarding the animal <br />ordinance and thanked them and members of staff for their <br />hard work in revising the ordinance to benefit the most <br />citizens. <br />6. Council considered an ordinance granting a pipeline permit <br />to Union Carbide, Inc. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 915-Z - AN ORDINANCE <br />GRANTING A PERMIT UNDER SECTION 18-A-3 OF ORDINANCE NO. <br />915, "PIPELINE TRANSPORTATION", BEING CHAPTER 18-A OF THE <br />CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, DATED <br />NOVEMBER 25, 1975, TO CONSTRUCT AN 8-INCH PIPE LINE FOR THE <br />TRANSPORTATION OF HYDROGEN; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to adopt Ordinance <br />915-Z as read by the City Attorney. Second by <br />Councilperson Lloyd. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 <br />nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Lloyd, Matuszak, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />7. Council was to consider an ordinance setting a speed limit <br />on Fairmont Parkway. <br />At the request of the City Manager to table this until the <br />next regular meeting, motion was made by Councilperson <br />Clarke to table the item. Second by Councilperson Gay. <br />The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
