Petitions, remonstrances, communications, and citizens and <br />taxpayers wishing to address Council: <br />A. Mike Cooper - Asked Council for a city-wide mailout <br />regarding the Water Commission public hearing scheduled <br />for February 23. <br />The Mayor inquired of the City Manager if there were <br />any plans for a mailout. Mr. Herrera stated that there <br />were no plans to do so, but that La Porte State Bank <br />would run the announcement on their marquee. <br />The Mayor stated that the hearing will also be <br />advertised in the Houston Post and the Houston <br />Chronicle, as well as the Bayshore Sun. <br />B. Mrs. Everlena Thornton addressed Council regarding the <br />buildings on her property that had been declared <br />dangerous and scheduled for demolition. She stated <br />that she has been trying to rehabilitate the buildings <br />and would like to be able to get back to it so that it <br />could be finished by spring. <br />Councilperson Gay explained that what Mrs. Thornton is <br />asking is that Council reconsider the ordinance that <br />was passed to demolish the buildings on her property. <br />C. William Glascow and Phil Roter addressed Council <br />regarding the transfer of the cable TV franchise from <br />Kip-Lee CATV, Inc., to Prime Cable. <br />D. Joey Leslie, representing students at La Porte High <br />School, addressed Council to request the free use of <br />Sylvan Beach Pavilion twice during each school year, in <br />order to defray costs of holding the Valentine dance <br />and the homecoming dance. <br />9. The preliminary design for Northwest Park was presented to <br />Council. <br />10. Council considered an ordinance calling the regular annual <br />election. <br />
