0 <br />• <br />Minutes, Public Hearing <br />La Porte City Council <br />March 28, 1988, Page 10 <br />and Regular Meeting <br />City Manager Bob Herrera presented a written report to <br />Council containing his ideas on a visionary plan for La <br />Porte. He emphasized that the ideas presented are his <br />personal ones, and Council should feel free to change <br />anything they feel is not compatible with what they would <br />like to accomplish. <br />Mr. Herrera then reviewed the program with Council. He was <br />very gratified that Council's comments had reinforced what <br />his feelings are regarding La Porte's future and the <br />methods to accomplish those goals. <br />Councilperson Matuszak addressed the question of what <br />person could be chosen as the leader to put all of these <br />plans into action. It is a very important role, and the <br />right person must be chosen soon before the momentum is <br />lost. <br />Councilperson Lloyd suggested that the Mayor appoint an ad <br />hoc committee of Council to get the City started and that <br />they come back to Council at a meeting in April to make a <br />preliminary assessment of the report given by the City <br />Manager. It was decided that April 11 would be the date <br />for the preliminary report. <br />Mayor Malone appointed an ad hoc committee of Council <br />members consisting of Councilpersons Lloyd, Matuszak, <br />Porter, Shipp, Gay and Skelton. <br />26. Discuss six-month review of zoning ordinance and zoning <br />map. <br />Before discussion on this item, the Mayor declared a short <br />recess at 8:38. The meeting reconvened at 8:50. <br />Director of Community Development Joel Albrecht reviewed <br />the three major proposed areas of change to the zoning <br />ordinance: Non -conforming buildings, structures and uses, <br />section 4-200; Landscaping (various sections); and the 3/4 <br />rule, section 11-507(8). <br />22. Council retired into executive session at 9:47 P.M. for the <br />following items: A. - Legal - Discuss with Attorney <br />proposed amendments to City of La Porte contract for solid <br />
