<br />ORDINANCE N0. 1589 <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION ON A <br />PORTION OF LOOP 410 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF LA PORTE; <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF <br />WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public <br />Transportation has made it known to the City of La Porte that <br />operations will begin in the near future to make improvements <br />along Loop 410; and <br />ttHEREAS, in the interest of safety, it is desirable to <br />maintain a construction speed zone during the construction <br />period. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE <br />Section 1. That a construction speed zone be established <br />along the named highways or parts thereof described as follows: <br />Along Loop 410, from Avenue G to East Fairmont Parkway, a <br />distance of approximately 0.200 mile, 30 miles per hour, to be <br />effective when so signed within said zone <br />Section 2. Necessary signs for posting the speed zones.~aill <br />be furnished, installed, and maintained by the direction of the <br />State Department of Highways and Public Transportation engineer <br />in charge of the project. <br />Section ~. Any person violating the provisions of this <br />ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon <br />conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed two hundred <br />dollars ($200.00). <br />Section 4. The City Council officially finds, determines, <br />recites and declares that a sufficient written notice of the <br />date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council <br />was posted at a place convenient to the public.at the City Hall <br />of the City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, <br />as required by the Open Meetings Law, Article 6252-17, Texas <br />Revised Civil Statutes Annotated; and that this meeting has been <br />open to the public as required by law at all times during which <br />this ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, <br />considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further <br />ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the <br />contents and posting thereof. <br />ection This ordinance shall be in effect only during <br />the period of construction, and completion of this project shall <br />automatically cancel the speed zones. <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this 23rd day of May, 1988. <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br /> <br />Norman L.
