<br />Minutes, Special Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />June 6, 1988, Page 2 <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />5. Council considered purchase of plastic garbage bags to meet <br />requirements of last quarter FY 1987-88. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to award a bid for <br />garbage bags to Adams Plastic for 56,080 pounds of plastic <br />garbage bags in the amount of $2,256 00, and to authorize <br />the transfer of this amount from the General Fund Cont~ngencv <br />to the Solid Waste ODeratin~ Budget. Second by Councilperson <br />Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />6. Council considered the appointment of a City Council <br />committee to interview potential environmental attorneys on <br />Houston Chemical Services permit application. <br />The Mayor stated he would like to appoint the Council as a <br />whole to interview potential environment attorneys, with <br />Alton Porter serving as chairman and Bob Herrera serving as <br />facilitator. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Matuszak to approve t e <br />MaY9r's recommendation. Second by Councilperson Porter. The <br />motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />7. Workshop Item: The City Manager distributed copies of the <br />long range planning report. He briefly reviewed the contents <br />of the report and asked that Council study it and have it <br />placed on the June 13 meeting as a workshop item for <br />discussion. <br />It was suggested by Councilperson Shipp that some sort of <br />invitations be sent to the public encouraging them to <br />participate in the public meetings that will be held. Staff <br />will bring a proposal to Council at the June 13 meeting. <br />
