Council considered an ordinance regulating labor agencies <br />within the City of La Porte. <br /> <br />The City Attorney asked that this item be removed from the <br />agenda as an action item and be considered as a workshop item <br />in order to receive input from Council on any changes they <br />wished to make to the ordinance. <br /> <br />It was agreed that this item would be placed on a workshop <br />agenda on September 19 and brought before Council at the <br />meeting on September 26 for action. <br /> <br />16. Council considered an ordinance approving an alcoholic <br />beverage permit for Memory Lane Restaurant. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1000-X - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1000 OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br />DESIGNATING THE AREAS WHERE BEER FOR CONSUMPTION ON PREMISES <br />MAY BE SOLD AND PROHIBITING THE SALE ELSEWHERE; PROVIDING FOR <br />HOURS OF OPENING AND CLOSING; DEFINING SOURCE OF AUTHORITY; <br />PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING THAT NO LICENSE SHALL BE <br />ISSUED EXCEPT FOR THE AREAS HEREIN DESIGNATED; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Gay to adopt Ordinance 1000-X <br />as read by the City Attornev. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />17. Council considered a resolution granting the request of Harris <br />County Flood Control District regarding proposed areas for <br />right-of-way acquisition. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 88-12 - A RESOLUTION <br />PROHIBITING THE ISSUANCE OF BUILDING PERMITS WITHIN AN AREA <br />DESIGNATED FOR RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION FOR HARRIS COUNTY <br />
