<br />Minutes, Public Hearing and Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />January 9, 1989, Page 2 <br />5. A plaque was presented to the Finance Department for <br />Excellence in Financial Reporting. This is the seventh <br />consecutive year that the Finance Department has received this <br />award. <br />6. The Mayor called to order the public hearing to hear the <br />request of the City of La Porte for a Special Conditional Use <br />Permit to allow expansion of an existing community center <br />located in an R-1 Low Density Residential zone. <br />Joel Albrecht, Director of Community Development, reviewed the <br />request for Council. Public input was called for; no one <br />spoke. The recommendation of the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission was read, which was to approve the Special <br />Conditional Use permit with no additional conditions. <br />The Mayor declared the public hearing closed. <br />7. Mr. Kyle Reppond, representing Monroe Business Systems, <br />addressed Council with information regarding a Monroe copy <br />machine. <br />Mrs. Jan Stevenson addressed Council regarding a $125 water <br />deposit with Bayshore MUD and requesting a refund of the <br />balance of her deposit from the $30 water deposit required by <br />the City. <br />8. Council considered approving a Special Conditional Use Permit <br />to allow expansion of an existing community center located in <br />an R-1 Low Density Residential Zone. <br />Motion was made by,_,Councilpe~son Waters to ap~.rove the ecial <br />('on~;tional Use DerMit for the JenDie Riled Comm~..pity Center. <br />Second by Councilperson Porter. The motion carried, 7 ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />9. Council considered approving an interlocal agreement with <br />Houston-Galveston Area Council for purchases through that <br />Agency. <br />
