• <br />Minutes, Public Hearing <br />La Porte City Council <br />March 13, 1989, Page 4 <br />and Regular Meeting <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1638 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND THE HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT, FOR A <br />PUBLIC HIKE AND BIKE PATH; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson to adopt Ordinance 1638 as <br />read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Cooper. <br />The motion carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Porter, Shipp, Skelton <br />and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />10. Council considered rejecting a bid for a 3/4-ton humane truck <br />and authorizing rebid. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to reject bid 0309 for <br />a 3/4-ton humane truck and authorize rebidding the item. <br />Second by Councilperson Cooper. The motion carried, 6 ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Porter, Shipp, Skelton <br />and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />11. There were no administrative reports. <br />12. Council Action: Councilpersons Waters, Shipp, Skelton and <br />Mayor Malone brought items to Council's attention. <br />Councilperson Waters requested staff investigate putting in a <br />bike path for residents in Meadowcrest to use to access North <br />West Park. They were promised this quite some time ago and we <br />need to fulfill this. <br />Councilperson Shipp requested staff to look into putting <br />support facilities so that the citizens of La Porte can access <br />our parks, golf course, etc., without having to drive there. <br />Mayor Malone read a letter from a citizen expressing her <br />appreciation for two EMS technicians who had helped her when <br />her fiance was taken to the hospital. <br />
