., . <br />.. ,,.. <br />• • <br />RESOLUTION N0. 1038 <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE TO ADOPT <br />LEGISLATION WHICH WILL PROHIBIT THE IMPOSITION OF A <br />MUNICIPAL INCOME TAX, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE THEREOF. <br />**************************************************************** <br />WHEREAS, there is presently pending House Bill 98 which <br />would deny to Municipalities the right to impose an income tax; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Baytown supports such Legislation; NOW <br />THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, <br />TEXAS: <br />Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, <br />Texas, hereby urges the Texas Legislature to pass House Bill 98 <br />denying the Municipalities of the State the right to impose a <br />Municipal income tax. <br />Section 2: The administration is hereby directed and <br />authorized to have copies of this resolution delivered to the <br />elected state representatives for the City of Baytown and such <br />other individuals or groups that the administration may deem <br />appropriate or necessary to be made aware of the City of <br />Baytown's position regarding House Bill 98 denying the <br />Municipalities of the state the right to impose a Municipal <br />income tax. <br />Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately <br />from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of <br />Baytown. <br />INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the <br />City Council of the City of Baytown, this the 26th day of <br />January, 1989. <br />EMMETT 0.
