MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 12, 1989 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:05 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Betty Waters, Mike Cooper, Ed Matuszak, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Mike Shipp, Deotis Gay, Jerry Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: Councilperson B. Don Skelton <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, <br />Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, Assistant to the City <br />Secretary Sue Lenes, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, <br />Assistant to the City Manager Janie Bais, Director of <br />Community Development Joel Albrecht, Assistant Director of <br />Public Works Buddy Jacobs, Finance Director Jeff Litchfield, <br />Fire Chief Joe Sease, Assistant Fire Chief John Dunham, City <br />Engineer Steve Wenzel <br />Others Present: John Black, Bayshore Sun; approximately 25 <br />citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Clarke. <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the public <br />hearings and regular meeting of Council held May 22, 1989. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to approve the May 22 <br />minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The <br />motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Shipp, Gay, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />4. Council considered approving the minutes of the public hearing <br />and special called meeting of Council held May 30, 1989. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve the minutes <br />of the May 30 meeting as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Shipp, Gay, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />5. A special presentation was made to former Councilperson Alton <br />Porter. The Mayor presented a framed proclamation and the <br />City Manager presented Mr. Porter with a plaque in <br />
