Minutes, Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />October 23, 1989, Page 2 <br />7. Council considered an ordinance amending Chapter 25, Article <br />2, Section 25-23 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La <br />Porte; for the purpose of designating a twenty (20) mile per <br />hour maximum speed limit on Myrtle Creek Drive, from Canyon <br />Springs Drive to WIllow Creek Drive. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1466-B - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 25, ARTICLE 2, SECTION 25-23 OF THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />DESIGNATING A TWENTY (20) MILE PER HOUR MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT <br />ON MYRTLE CREEK DRIVE, FROM CANYON SPRINGS DRIVE TO WILLOW <br />CREEK DRIVE WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING THAT ANY <br />PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED <br />GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN <br />A SUM; NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to adopt Ordinance <br />1466-B as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Porter. <br />Lengthy discussion followed, after which motion was made b <br />Councilperson McLaughlin to tablethis item until a worksho <br />meeting to discuss it could be held. Second by Councilperson <br />Matuszak. The motion carried, 5 ayes and 4 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Matuszak, McLaughlin, Gay, Skelton <br />and Clarke <br />Nays: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Porter and Mayor <br />Malone <br />8. Council considered a resolution approving entering into an <br />interlocal agreement with the State's General Services and <br />Purchasing Commission for EMS supplies. <br />The City Attorney read the resolution. Motion was made by <br />Councilperson Waters to approve Resolution 86-16 as read by <br />the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson McLaughlin. The <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />9. Council considered authorizing the law firm of Lloyd, <br />Gosselink, Ryan & Fowler to represent the City of La Porte in <br />connection with filing and prosecution of a lawsuit against <br />Timothy J.
