<br />Minutes, Public Hearing <br />La Porte City Council <br />March 12, 1990, Page 7 <br />and Regular Meeting <br /> <br />property, because Southern Pacific is requiring that ICN <br />indemnify them for any environmental hazard on the property, <br />even while they have owned it. ICN cannot do that until their <br />environmental study is complete, and they may not have the <br />document in time to make the April 16 date. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to table Ordinance <br />1691. The motion died for lack of a second. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to amend Ordinance <br />1691, Section 3, paragraph 2, by putting a period after the <br />word "herein" and removing the rest of the paragraph. Second <br />by Councilperson Cooper. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 <br />nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />21. Council received a report from the City Manager regarding <br />purchase of the bowling alley building located on Broadway <br />Street. <br />Chief Building Inspector Ervin Griffith reported on the <br />inspection of the physical condition of the building that had <br />been conducted and the estimated costs involved to repair it. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to direct the City <br />Manager and the City Attorney to pursue purchase of the <br />bowling alley building. Second by Councilperson McLaughlin. <br />The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />22. Council considered approving a contract with KPMG Peat Marwick <br />for annual audit. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve the <br />contract with KPMG Peat Marwick. Second by Councilperson <br />Cooper. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />
