<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Minutes, Public Hearings and Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />April 9, 1990, Page 3 <br /> <br />The Mayor called for public input. Harley Martin, <br />President of ICN, addressed Council to express his <br />willingness to accept the conditions of the PUD set out <br />by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Questions from <br />Council were answered. There being no further input, the <br />Mayor declared public hearing "B" closed. <br /> <br />8. Blinkey, the robot cop recently purchased through donations, <br />was introduced to Council by Chief Charles smith. Blinkey was <br />certainly well-received, and his "keepers", Mike Edgmon and <br />Jerome McKown, handled him very professionally. <br /> <br />9. Council considered approving a special conditional use permit <br />for Fairmont Park Baptist Church to allow placement of a 24- <br />foot by 32-foot portable building to be used for storage. <br /> <br />Motion was made bY Councilperson McLauqhlin that the request <br />be returned to the Planninq and Zoninq Commission for further <br />study. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion failed, 3 <br />ayes and 6 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Councilpersons McLaughlin, Gay and Skelton <br />Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, <br />Clarke and Mayor Malone <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to deny the request <br />of Fairmont Park Baptist Church for a special conditional use <br />permit. Second by Councilperson Clarke. <br /> <br />Councilperson Gay moved to amend the motion to approve the <br />permit if the building was moved. City Attorney Askins stated <br />that this motion to amend was not in order. <br /> <br />The motion to deny the request was voted, and carried, 5 ayes <br />and 4 nays. <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Porter, Clarke and <br />Mayor Malone <br />Councilpersons Matuszak, McLaughlin, Skelton and Gay <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />10. Council considered approving a special conditional use permit <br />for International Cargo Network to allow development of a <br />Planned unit Development (PUD) to consist of a refrigerated <br />warehouse complex. <br /> <br />Motion was made bY Councilperson Clarke to approve the special <br />conditional use permit for International Cargo Network. <br />Second by Councilperson Waters. The motion carried, 9 ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />
