Council considered an ordinance granting the City Manager <br />general authority to contract for expenditures without further <br />approval of city Council for budgeted items not exceeding <br />$5,000.00. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1700 - AN ORDINANCE <br />GRANTING THE CITY MANAGER GENERAL AUTHORITY TO CONTRACT FOR <br />EXPENDITURES WITHOUT FURTHER APPROVAL OF CITY COUNCIL FOR <br />BUDGETED ITEMS NOT EXCEEDING $5,000.00; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Cooper to adopt Ordinance <br />1700 as read bv the City Attornev. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. Council considered an ordinance establishing speed limits <br />during construction on a portion of SH 225 within the <br />corporate limits of the City of La Porte. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1701 - AN ORDINANCE <br />ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION ON A PORTION OF <br />SH 225 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF LA PORTE AND PROVIDING <br />A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made bY Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1701 as read by the city Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Porter. Council considered an ordinance amending Ordinance 1644, <br />establishing rates for use of municipal swimming pools and <br />hours of operation for municipal swimming pools. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1644-A - AN ORDINANCE <br />ESTABLISHING THE RATES FOR THE USE OF THE MUNICIPAL SWIMMING <br />POOLS AND THE HOURS OF OPERATION FOR THE MUNICIPAL SWIMMING <br />POOLS. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to adopt Ordinance <br />1644-A as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Cooper. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
