• <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />June 11, 1990, Page 6 <br />C~ <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to adopt Ordinance <br />1709 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Porter. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />8. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing an <br />agreement for temporary sanitary service by and between the <br />City of La Porte and Abbott Development Corporation. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1697 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT FOR TEMPORARY SANITARY <br />SEWER SERVICE BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AND <br />ABBOTT DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to adopt Ordinance <br />1697 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />16. Council considered naming a chairman for La Porte Centennial <br />Celebration committee. <br />Councilperson McLaughlin nominated Lou Lawler for Chairman. <br />Councilperson Clarke nominated Pat Muston for Chairman. A <br />vote was taken and Lou Lawler received 6 votes, as follows: <br />Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, Porter, Skelton <br />and Mayor Malone; Pat Muston received one vote, as follows: <br />Councilperson Clarke. <br />21.
