<br />CHAPTER 11
<br />HEALT~i DEPARTMENT
<br />Section 11-1. A:~ooint:r~ent of City Hea~t'~ Officer
<br />The City -Tanager, with the approval of .the Council, shall,
<br />prior to October 1st, of each year, appoint a City Health Officer
<br />who is a licensed physician, qualified to practice medicine in
<br />the State of Texas. He shall receive for his services such
<br />compensation as may be fixed by the Counr_i: at the time of
<br />appointment and shall hold hip office at the pleasure of the City
<br />Managor, with the approval of the r_ounc_il. He is to be the
<br />director and is responsible to the City Manager for the general
<br />administration and supervision of the Health Department..
<br />Section 11-2. Duties of City Health Officer
<br />The City Health Officer advises the City Manager on a
<br />program of public health and cooperates with the Harris County
<br />Health Department in carrying out the food establishment
<br />surveillance program services of the Harris County Health
<br />Department.
<br />Th? City Health Officer is responsible for ensuring the
<br />licensure of food handlers; the monitoring of. possible pollution
<br />to include air, water, audio, and sanitation; the promotion of
<br />health and suppression of disease which includes establishment of
<br />immunization standards, disease control monitoring and
<br />investigation for other nuisances considered unhealthy to the
<br />Citi?~ ns of L.. Porte chid quests; shall prepare a semi-annual
<br />written report to the City Manager regarding the quality ~~f air,
<br />water, audio, san.it~~tion, food handling and other health-
