Mr. Mike Hammond, 4921 Meadowcrest, addressed Council to ask <br />that they consider an ordinance to prohibit dirt bikes and <br />ATVs to operate within 1000 feet of a residence. This is for <br />the safety of the children riding these vehicles and also for <br />the nuisance level of the noise generated by these vehicles. <br />7. Council considered an ordinance calling the regular annual <br />election of the City of La Porte. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1744 - AN ORDINANCE CALLING <br />THE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; CALLING <br />A RUN-OFF ELECTION, IF NECESSARY; DESIGNATING ELECTION <br />PRECINCTS AND POLLING PLACES; PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF VOTING <br />MACHINES; APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR METHOD <br />AND DATES OF ABSENTEE VOTING; PROVIDING FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT <br />BOARD; PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID <br />ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING DEADLINE <br />AND FILING FEES FOR CANDIDATES; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Gay to adopt Ordinance 1744 <br />as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />McLaughlin. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />8. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br />letter of agreement between the City of La Porte and Hugh <br />Landrum & Associates. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1745 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A LETTER OF AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND HUGH L. LANDRUM AND ASSOCIATES, INC., <br />FOR INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT CONSULTANT SERVICES; MAKING VARIOUS <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1745 as read by the City Attornev. Second by Councilperson <br />Cooper.
