• • <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />February 25, 1991, Page 2 <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1746 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE, "AUTO WRECKER AND TOWING VEHICLE"; REGULATING AUTO <br />WRECKERS AND TOWING VEHICLES; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON <br />VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY <br />OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN A SUM <br />NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY <br />CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to adopt Ordinance <br />1746 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />McLaughlin. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Matuszak to amend the motion <br />to adopt the ordinance as read by increasing the amount of the <br />yearly hermit fee from 535.00 top 550.00 per year. Second by <br />Councilperson Porter. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 1 nay. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilperson Cooper <br />The main motion was then voted, and the motion carried, 9 ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Matuszak, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />7. Council considered an ordinance approving a contract for <br />collection of delinquent taxes. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1747 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR COLLECTION OF <br />DELINQUENT TAXES BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND <br />DEXTER D. JOYNER; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to adopt Ordinance <br />1747 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke.
