Landrum & Associates, Inc. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />When the City of La Porte purchased 80.972 acres of land (for the future <br />landfill) from FMC in July of 1989, the closing did not take into account the <br />amount of property taxes for the year. FMC paid property taxes for the <br />complete tax year of 1989. Because the City of La Porte was the owner of the <br />property for the period from July to December of that year, FMC should not be <br />liable for taxes for that period. <br />Attached is a letter from Hugh Landrum which provides us with the amount of <br />tax for the above mentioned period. The City's finance department has <br />reviewed and does concur with the calculation.
