• <br />Minutes, Called Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />May 20, 1991, Page 2 <br />5. Ms. Gail Davis, Assistant Recreation Therapist, was named as <br />Employee of the Quarter for January, February and March, 1991. <br />Mayor Malone presented Ms. Davis a plaque. <br />6. Mr. Arthur Story, Executive Director of the Harris County <br />Flood Control District, along with several members of his <br />staff, addressed Council regarding the plans of the District <br />for this area. <br />7. The following citizens addressed Council regarding flooding <br />problems in the Lomax area: Bobby Blackwell, Mike Knott, <br />Robert Pickering, Sidney Grant, Betty Waters. Rev. Tom Walls <br />was scheduled to speak, but was not present. <br />Ed Feith addressed Council regarding the Bay Day celebration, <br />and thanked staff for their help with the event. <br />8. Council considered an ordinance closing "M" Street between <br />Broadway and South First Street. <br />9. Council considered an ordinance closing the alley in Block <br />1432 between "M" and "N" Streets. <br />The above two items were requested to be brought to executive <br />session and then be considered for action. <br />10. Council considered awarding a bid for 1991 Bayshore elevated <br />water storage tank painting project. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Thrower, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Gay, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />11. Council considered a consent agenda, as follows: (A) Consider <br />awarding a bid for gasoline and diesel fuel; (B) Consider <br />awarding a bid for personal alert safety systems devices. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to approve the consent <br />agenda as presented. Second by Councilperson McLaughlin. The <br />motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />the construction contingency of the Northwest La Porte Water <br />Project. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, <br />7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
