Minutes Re -Districting Public Hearing <br />and La Porte City Council <br />August 12, 1991, Page 8 <br />City Attorney Knox Askins clarified to Council the first vote <br />will be on the amendment by Councilpersons Gay, second for <br />amendment by Councilperson Cooper. <br />Councilperson Gay's amendment failed, 4 ayes and 5 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Gay, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilpersons Sutherland, Thrower, McLaughlin, <br />Porter and Skelton <br />Councilperson Cooper's amendment passed, 6 ayes and 3 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons, Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, Gay, <br />Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilpersons, McLaughlin, Porter and Skelton <br />Mayor Malone called for a vote on the original motion with <br />Councilperson Cooper's amendment, and the motion failed, 4 <br />ayes and 5 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: Councilpersons McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Skelton and <br />Clarke <br />The City Attorney stated at this point we have no motions <br />passed, and Council must start over with a new motion. <br />Councilperson Alton Porter made a motion to approve and adopt <br />the new District Map as presented by the Re -Districting <br />Committee without any amendments. Second by Councilperson <br />Bob Thrower. Motion passed with 7 ayes and 2 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Thrower, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilpersons Cooper and Gay <br />
