Powell, Chief of Police , <br />SUBJECT: Proposed Update Traffic Ordinance <br />DATE: September 3, 1991 <br />The La Porte Independent School District has developed Early <br />Dismissals within this district to comply with state requirements <br />and to provide for continuous staff development. <br />LPISD will have early dismissal every Monday according to the <br />following schedule. <br />Students who regularly leave at 2:30 p.m. will be <br />dismissed at 1:30 p.m. <br />Students who regularly leave at 3:30 p.m. will <br />be dismissed at 2:30 p.m. <br />We are requesting a new time frame on the School Zones to comply <br />with their new attendance hours in which an update to the Traffic <br />Ordinance Chapter 23; Article II Sec. 25-23 {d) (2) is necessary; <br />The speed limit established in this section shall be in effect <br />between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 <br />p.m., Monday through Friday of each week, from the first day of <br />September or the beginning of the school term, whichever event <br />first occurs, to the first day of June or the last day of the <br />school term, whichever event last occurs, of each and every year, <br />when the school zone to which such limit applies in properly signed <br />or posted as a school zone. Timed flashing lights, as well as <br />fixed signs may be used to sign or post a school zone. <br />BLP/web <br />
