Office. of the Mayor <br /> <br />r <br />~~ <br />~p~~~,~ : More than 58,000 men and women lost their lives on <br />the battlefields of Vretnarn defending the ideals on which <br />the United States of 19merica was founded; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1982 our nation built a monument to the lives lost, the <br />survivors, and the unresolved feelings toward the war itself,• and <br />WHEREAS, many people will never have the chance to visit the monument <br />in Washington, D.C., to begin to resolve their own personal feelings; and <br />WHEREAS, Forest Park East Cemetery is bring to League City, on Friday, <br />March 20 t/trough Sunday, March 22, 1992, a 240 foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans <br />Memorial that will allow our citizens to experience tl:e intense human emotion associated with <br />the monument. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, NORMAN L. MALONE, MAYOR of the City <br />of La Porte, do hereby proclaim Saturday, March 21, 1992, as <br />VIETNAM VETERANS DAY <br />in the City of La Porte, and encourage all citizens to visit the Vietnam Memorial while it is <br />being displayed in League City. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the <br />Seal of the City to be affrxed hereto, this the 24th day of February, 1992. <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />Norman L.
