It delayed the City in completing the demolition for periods of up to one (1)
year.

In order to avoid such problems in the future and at the same time allow the owner a
period of time to demolish, the staff proposes the following:

· AlI,properties listed on the agenda will have the Condemnation
Ordinance completed.

The owner will be granted a period of time, not to exceed ninety (90)
days to complete the demolition. The clock would begin upon passage
of the demolition ordinance.

All property owners desiring to demolish their own structure must sign
the "Consent to Destruction" agreement with an effective date ninety
(90) days from passage of the Condemnation Ordinance. This
agreement would be signed at the time of permitting for the
demolition.

The staff feels that this proposal will allow the City to complete the demolition of all
condemned structures within a reasonable period of time and it will avoid any problems
experienced in the past.

Thank you for your considerations.
