<br /> <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />May 4, 1992, Page 2 <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Skelton and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Honorable Judge J. B. Williamson gave the oath of office to <br />Councilpersons McLaughlin and Maxwell, who then took their <br />places at the Council table. <br />6. Council considered an ordinance naming a Mayor Pro Tem. <br />The Mayor asked for nominations and Councilperson Sutherland <br />nominated Councilperson Mike Cooper. Councilperson McLaughlin <br />nominated Councilperson Alton Porter. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower that the vote be <br />taken by secret ballot. After advice from the City Attorney <br />that this could not be done in open meeting, the motion died <br />for lack of a second. <br />Councilperson Cooper was elected as Mayor Pro Tem. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1839 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPOINTING A MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO SERVE AS MAYOR PRO <br />TEM OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, FOR THE TERM MAY 4, 1992, UNTIL <br />MAY 4, 1993; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />7. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing an <br />agreement between the City of La Porte and United System <br />Technology, Inc., including application software contract, <br />application software maintenance agreement, and hardware <br />purchase agreement. <br />8. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br />contract between the City of La Porte and IBM Corporation for <br />hardware purchase, and hardware maintenance agreement. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1840 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND UNITED SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY, INC., INCLUDING <br />APPLICATION SOFTWARE CONTRACT, APPLICATION SOFTWARE <br />MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT, AND HARDWARE PURCHASE AGREEMENT; MAKING <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1841 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND IBM CORPORATION FOR HARDWARE PURCHASE, AND HARDWARE <br />MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />
