9 • <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />January 11, 1993, Page 4 <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1881 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTINGENCY APPROPRIATION OF <br />$9, 096.00 ON THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND <br />URETEK USA, INC., TO REHABILITATE WEST COUPLAND DRIVE; <br />APPROPRIATING $9,096.00 TO FUND SAID CONTINGENCY CONTRACT; <br />MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE <br />SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />The vote was taken and the motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />11. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br />contract between the City of La Porte and Manning Engineering <br />Corporation for evaluation and design of Lift Station 30 <br />improvements. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to approve and <br />authorize the contract with Manning Engineering Corporation. <br />Second by Councilperson Sutherland. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1882 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND MANNING ENGINEERING CORPORATION, FOR PLANS AND <br />SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE LIFT STATION 30 PROJECT; APPROPRIATING <br />$12,300.00 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />The vote was taken and the motion carried, 8 ayes and 1 nay. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, Porter, <br />Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilperson McLaughlin <br />12. Council considered an ordinance authorizing an agreement with <br />Sunbelt Hotels, Inc., for development of preliminary plans for <br />a hotel -convention center within the City of La Porte. <br />At this time, the City Manager reviewed the procedures to be <br />done by Sunbelt Hotels with the passage of the ordinance, and <br />addressed the questions raised earlier by Mr. Westergren. <br />
