Council considered an ordinance awarding banking services <br />agreement. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1888 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A BANKING SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND BAYSHORE NATIONAL BANK OF LA PORTE, <br />FOR A TWO YEAR TERM, COMMENCING MARCH 1, 1993, AND TERMINATING <br />FEBRUARY 28, 1995, AND ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS THEREAFTER; <br />MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISION RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />At this time Mayor Malone, Councilperson Sutherland, and City <br />Attorney Askins left the Council table and Mayor Pro Tem <br />Cooper presided. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to adopt Ordinance <br />93-1888 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />McLaughlin. The motion carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, <br />Maxwell and Clarke <br />Nays: None <br />Mayor Malone, Councilperson Sutherland and City Attorney <br />Askins returned to the Council table. <br />8. Council considered awarding a bid for recreation programs tee <br />shirts. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Maxwell to award the tee <br />shirt bid to Prestige Promotional, with a contingency contract <br />to Constanzo's. Second by Councilperson Thrower. Workshop Item: Discuss Resolution supporting legislation to <br />provide a penalty of capital punishment for child abuse <br />resulting in death of a child under six years of age. <br />The City of Garland is asking support for a proposed bill for <br />legislative action to provide a penalty of capital punishment <br />
