Administrative Reports: The City Manager informed Council <br />that he feels our arrangement with Sunbelt Hotels and Mr. <br />Keith Carlson is paying off. Mr. Carlson is a very competent <br />architect and has exercised quality control in this project, <br />because he also wants to leave a "footprint" for his company. <br />il. Council Action: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Clarke and Mayor Malone brought items <br />to Council's attention. The Mayor read letters from several <br />legislators and a Garland Councilman thanking the City for <br />supporting legislation on capital punishment for those <br />convicted of causing the death of a child due to abuse of that <br />child. <br />12. Council adjourned into executive session at 7:13 P.M. under <br />V.A.T.S. - Article 6252-17 - Section 2(G) - Personnel, to <br />receive a report from the City Manager regarding a personnel <br />matter. Council returned to the table at 8:20 P.M. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Maxwell that the <br />recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that Sue <br />Lenes be named as the new City Secretary. Second by <br />Councilperson Porter. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />13.
