Second by Councilperson McLaughlin. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Pro Tem Cooper. Nays: None 9. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a contract between the City of La Porte and Comex Corporation for construction of Main Street sidewalks and curb replacement and corner wheelchair access ramps. The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1899 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND COMEX CORPORATION, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF MAIN STREET SIDEWALK, CURB REPLACEMENT, AND CORNER WHEELCHAIR ACCESS RAMPS; APPROPRIATING $23,830.89 PLUS A CONTINGENCY OF $15,419.11 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1900 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND S.C.I. CONTRACTORS, INC., FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF FAIRMONT PARK ATHLETIC COMPLEX PARKING LOT EXPANSION; APPROPRIATING $35,183.46 PLUS A CONTINGENCY OF $4,816.54 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
