• • <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM <br />,. <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE REQUESTED April 26, 1993 <br />REQUESTED BY Jeff Litchfield DEPARTMENT Director of Finance <br />REPORT RESOLUTION XX ORDINANCE <br />EXHIBITS: Ordinance <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />On April 12, 1993, the City Council of the City of La Porte held a work shop <br />to review proposed changes to the Utility Billing Operation. The attached <br />ordinance is a result of that workshop. <br />This ordinance modifies Chapter 26 of the Code of Ordinances. The areas of <br />change are: <br />^ Cleanup of wording <br />^ Service Fees for New Services and Transfers <br />^ Service Fees for Repetitive Actions <br />^ Fees and Changes to reduce our exposure for Bad Debts <br />The recommended changes made at the City Council work shop were incorporated <br />into the attached ordinance. Those changes were: <br />^ Removed the words "one time" as they related to service and transfer <br />fees. <br />^ Changed the words "rate payer" to "consumer" <br />^ Reworked the paragraph regarding restoration of service after <br />service had been discontinued because of neglect by the consumer. <br />Also changed the hours to read 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. <br />^ Added the word "discontinue" to a paragraph on page 3 and "double <br />deposit" on page 4. <br />^ Changed the deposit for owner units from the proposed amount of $100 <br />to that suggested by Council of $90. <br />This ordinance changes all the appropriate wording.
