<br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALL MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 3, 1993 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob McLaughlin, <br />Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell, Jerry Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: Councilpersons Bob Thrower, <br />Alton Porter <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Sue Lenes, Assistant City <br />Manager John Joerns, Planning Director Chuck Harrington, <br />Police Chief Bobby Powell, Director of Administrative Services <br />Louis Rigby, Fire Chief Joe Sease, Golf Pro Alex Osmond, Buyer <br />Susan Kelley <br />Others Present: Citizen Barbara Neal <br />2. The invocation was given by Mayor Malone. <br />3. Council considered approving minutes of the regular meeting <br />held April 26, 1993. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to approve the <br />April 26 minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Mclaughlin, Gay, <br />Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />4. Council canvassed votes and considered ordinance declaring <br />results of election held May 1, 1993. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1903 - AN ORDINANCE <br />DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE ON MAY 1, 1993, FOR THE ELECTION OF COUNCILPERSON-AT- <br />LARGE-POSITION B; COUNCILPERSON DISTRICT 1; AND COUNCILPERSON <br />DISTRICT 6; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to adopt Ordinance 93- <br />1903 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons, Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, <br />Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />
