Ordinance 3. utility Relocation Agreement ----------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION Summary The Texas Department of Transportation (TX DOT) has, for the past several years, been rebuilding SH 225 from IH 610 to the intersection of SH 146. This project has moved forward to the point that the remaining section of the project is that portion from Underwood Road to SH 146. This was originally scheduled to be let for bid in late November with construction to begin soon after. TX DOT has now moved the project forward six (6) months and is in the process of bidding the project. As a part of the project, there was significant reconstruction planned for the intersection of Sens Road. This reconstruction will impact water and sewer utilities in the area and requires the city of La Porte to relocate their lines in the vicinity. The estimated cost of this relocation is $147,009.39. While the staff has been aware of the proposed relocation, we had not anticipated the accelerated bid and construction dates. In our discussions with TX DOT, we notified them that funding was not set aside during this fiscal year. In order to accommodate our situation, Tx DOT has agreed to allow the city to pay for the project in three (3) equal installments, beginning with the new fiscal year in October. This will allow TX DOT to proceed with the project and allow the City to budget for the expenditures. Recommendation The staff recommends that the city Council approve an ordinance authorizing an agreement between the City of La Porte and the State of Texas in the amount of $147,009.39, to be paid in three (3) equal payments for the relocation of water and sanitary sewer utilities at the intersection of Sens Road and SH 225.
