Fred provided Council with an <br />update of the City's approach and methods for solving some of <br />the problems with inflow and infiltration reduction. These <br />methods should bring the City of La Porte into compliance with <br />EPA requirements. Bob Herrera stressed "the importance of the <br />data complied by staff and the biggest problem the City is <br />faced with at this time is not infiltration, but inflow, and <br />as a result of some of the recommendations heard tonight, the <br />Phase I programming will be a direct effort and plan of attack <br />to hit those areas and take care of the big problems first." <br /> <br />13. Council considered a consent agenda as follows: (A) Consider <br />awarding bid for purchase of open channel flow monitoring <br />system; (B) Consider awarding bid for the supply of manhole <br />chemical sealing material; (C) Consider awarding contract for <br />removal and replacement of potable water tank; (D) Consider <br />awarding bid for water and sewer supplies; (E) Consider <br />awarding bid for pumper apparatus. <br /> <br />Council discussed all of the items on the consent agenda and <br />decided to vote on item (B) first. Item (B) Consider awarding <br />bid for supply of manhole chemical sealing material. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Sutherland to award the bid <br />in a manner which would be commensurate with the lowest cost <br />to the City of the manhole chemical sealina material. Second <br />by Councilperson Maxwell. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 <br />nays. <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />None <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Council discussed the remaining items on the consent agenda <br />(A), (C), (D) and (E). <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Thrower to aD9rove all of the <br />remainina items on the consent. tAl. tCl. tOl and tEl. Second <br />by Councilperson Clarke.
