'01', <br />.~ ~(? <br /> <br />r <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />l1!Jl1rrra.s : <br /> <br />Emergency Medical Services is a vital public service and access <br />to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival <br />rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, efforts to establish emergency medical services as a medical specialty began <br />twenty-five years ago; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams consist of emergency <br />physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, educators, administrators, and <br />others; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams engage in thousands <br />of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills and the people of <br />La Porte, Texas benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these highly trained individuals; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of <br />emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services week; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, then designation of Emergency Medical Services week will serve to <br />educate the people of La Porte, Texas about injury preVention and how to respond to a medical emergency. <br /> <br />NO~ THEREFORE, I, NORMAN L. MALONE, MAYOR of the City of La <br />Porte, in recogn~tion of this event do hereby proclaim- the week of May 23-29, 1993 as <br /> <br />EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br /> <br />in the City of La Porte, and encourage the community to observe this week with appropriate programs, <br />ceremonies, and activities. <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of <br />the City to be affixed hereto, this the 24th day of May, 1993. <br /> <br />-.- <br /> <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br /> <br />Norman L.
