Second by <br />councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />(Councilperson Porter was away from the table) <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, Gay, <br />Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />None <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Mayor Malone congratulated Chairperson Betty Waters on her re- <br />election to the planning and Zoning commission and ask if she <br />would like to address Council. <br /> <br />Mrs. Waters said, "she would like to impress Council with the <br />fact we have a good and hard working commission who work well <br />together and each one is interested in the betterment of the <br />city of La Porte and any item which Planning and Zoning has <br />submitted for Council's approval has been a consideration for <br />the entire city's benefit." <br /> <br />10. Council considered approving a resolution accepting a grant <br />offer for construction of airport improvements and authorizing <br />the Mayor to execute an agreement with the Federal Aviation <br />Administration in the amount of $1,546,359.00, representing <br />90% of the total project and appropriate the sum of <br />$171,818.00 for the City's 10% matching share. <br /> <br />The city Attorney read: RESOLUTION 93-07 - A RESOLUTION <br />ACCEPTING A GRANT OFFER FROM THE FEDERAL AVIATION <br />ADMINISTRATION FOR AIRPORT PROJECT NO. 3-48-0127-06-93; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Thrower to aDDrove Resolution <br />93-07 as read by the City Attorney. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing a <br />contract between the city of La Porte and Jones G. Finke, <br />Inc., for construction of airport improvements at the La Porte <br />Municipal Airport. <br />
