• <br /> <br />MINUTES PUBLIC HEARING AND REGULAR MEETING <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 9, 1993 <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 <br />P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell, Jerry <br />Clarke <br />Members of Cites Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Sue Lenes, Assistant <br />City Manager John Joerns, Police Chief Bobby Powell, Lt. Carl <br />Crisp, Director Administrative Services Louis Rigby, Fire <br />Chief Joe Sease, Director of Finance Jeff Litchfield, Director <br />of Planning Chuck Harrington, City Engineer Fred Thompson, <br />Golf Pro/Manager Alex Osmond, Buyer Susan Kelley <br />The invocation was given by Councilperson Alton Porter. <br />Council considered approving minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />July 26, 1993. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to approve the <br />minutes of July 26 as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Thrower. The motion carried, 8 ayes, 0 nays and 1 abstaining. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, <br />Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Sutherland <br />4. There were no citizens wishing to address council. <br />5. Mayor Malone opened the public hearing at 6:06 P.M. The <br />hearing was to consider a rezoning request by Bayou Forest <br />Property, Ltd. to rezone a 107.356 tract of land out of W.P. <br />Harris Survey, Abstract #A-30 currently zoned Planned Unit <br />Development. The property is located at the Southeastern <br />corner of McCabe Road and State Highway 146 intersection. The <br />applicant seeks to have 100.6034 acres rezoned to R-1, Low <br />Density Residential. This is for the purpose of developing a <br />337 lot residential subdivision. The applicant also seeks to <br />have the remaining 6.7526 acres located adjacent to State <br />Highway 146 and McCabe Road Intersection, rezoned to <br />Neighborhood Commercial. The Mayor asked for public input. <br />
