Council considered approving a resolution acknowledging the <br />City of La Porte's Municipal Pollution Prevention <br />Environmental Audit Report. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Counciloerson Thrower to aoorove Resolution <br />93-12. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, <br />9 ayes, 0 nays. <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke <br />Malone <br />None <br /> <br />Thrower, <br />and Mayor <br /> <br />Ayes; <br /> <br />21. Consent Agenda - Council considered awarding bids as follows: <br />(A) Consider awarding a bid for the supply of smoke bombs; <br />(B) Consider declaring Vulcan Materials as sole source <br />supplier of naturally impregnated limestone asphaltic <br />aggregate and award annual supply contract. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Counciloerson Clarke to aoorove the consent <br />aqenda as presented. Second by Councilperson Thrower. Administrative Reports: city Manager discussed a proposed <br />joint workshop meeting with La Porte Bayshore Chamber of <br />Commerce and City Council. He suggested the 20th of September <br />wi th a suggested 7: 30 P. M. meeting time. He also asked <br />Council to keep our usual meeting time of 6:00 P.M. for an <br />executive session to hear a report from Sunbelt Hotel on the <br />status of the hotel at Sylvan Beach. <br />Mr. Herrera discussed the La Porte Habitat For Humanity. This <br />is an organization seeking to eliminate poverty housing and <br />improve the quality of lives by assisting families in building <br />and owing decent and adequate housing. Mr. Herrera referred <br />to a letter of introduction by Mr. Jim Counts. Mr. Counts is <br />not asking for funding but for a work program where perhaps <br />we, the city, will look at our inventory of property or vacant <br />land through out the city where a home could be built. This <br />would place the property back on the city tax rolls. Mr. <br />Herrera asked for Council direction, after their review of the <br />information. He asked for a general consensus to enter into <br />an agreement with Mr. Counts where the City does not put up <br />
