Ms. Ruth Pavelko asked to speak to Council regarding Little <br />Cedar Bayou Park and Ball Field. Ms. Pavelko presented a <br />petition with 104 names requesting a gate be placed at the <br />corner of 8th Street and West "M" Street. Ms. Pavelko stated <br />there is loud music and other disturbances in the park late at <br />night. Mr. Andrew Pavelko also spoke on the same subject <br />adding other disturbing incidents occurring in the late <br />evening and early morning hours in Little Cedar Bayou Park. <br />6. Council considered an ordinance calling a Special Election on <br />November 2, 1993. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1931 - AN ORDINANCE CALLING <br />A SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; DESIGNATING <br />ELECTION PRECINCTS AND POLLING PLACES; PROVIDING FOR USE OF <br />VOTING MACHINES; APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR <br />METHOD AND DATES OF EARLY VOTING; PROVIDING FOR AN EARLY <br />VOTING BALLOT BOARD; PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES <br />OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS <br />CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />"OFFICIAL BALLOT <br />FOR The sale of that portion of Little Cedar Bayou Park <br />situated east of Old Highway 146, with the proceeds <br />of the sale to be used only to acquire and improve <br />AGAINST public park property." <br />Motion was made by Sutherla <br />read by the City Attornev. <br />The motion carried, 7 ayes <br />Ayes: Councilpersons <br />McLaughlin, Gay, <br />Clarke <br />Nays: None <br />end to approve Ordinance 93-1931 as <br />Second by Councilperson Cooper. <br />and 0 nays. <br />Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />Maxwell and Mayor Pro Tem Jerry <br />
