Council considered awarding contract for purchase of plastic <br />garbage bags. <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett reviewed bid <br />tabulations and stated staff recommends awarding contract to <br />Arrow Industries. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to award contract for <br />purchase of plastic garbacte bags to Arrow Industries. Second <br />by Councilperson Maxwell. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 <br />nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, <br />Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />9. City Manager Bob Herrera reported to Council there has been <br />forty seven mail-outs to industry neighbors. Of the forty <br />seven, forty four have returned affirmative responses that <br />they wish to enter into another set of contracts. At this <br />time, three companies have not. One company you heard from <br />tonight, the other is Southern Ionics, and the third is <br />Storage Warehouse Services. The other item Mr. Herrera <br />brought to Councils attention was a reminder due to the <br />Christmas holidays we will have only one regular meeting in <br />December, and this meeting is scheduled for December 13. Mr. <br />Herrera requested an executive session regarding some legal <br />matters. <br />10. Councilpersons Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell and <br />Clarke brought items to council's attention. Mayor Malone <br />stated he had one concern regarding the young man who is "on <br />our back for some reason". The Mayor stated he thought of two <br />or three ways to confront him but decided he was not worth the <br />time or effort. The Mayor listed fifteen things that we do in <br />this city to benefit him and the other tax payers in his <br />district: One of the best police service and protection; also <br />on of the best in fire protection; "the best in Texas EMS <br />assistance" as you heard tonight; Senior Citizens Center and <br />senior programs; Community Development and Planning and <br />Zoning; Parks and Recreation areas and pools all over the city <br />as well as his neighborhood; General Administration services <br />is one that we can not compare; water and sewer utility <br />division keeping rates as low as we can; garbage collection <br />and free trash service; municipal airport; a golf course equal <br />
