Second by Councilperson <br /> Cooper. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br /> McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell and Mayor Pro Tem <br /> Clarke. <br /> Nays: None <br /> 12. Brought before Council prior to item 7. <br /> 13. Consider approving an ordinance authorizing the City Manager <br /> to execute a contract for demolition of six condemned <br /> structures to Daniel's Truck Hauling. <br /> Planning Director Chuck Harrington reviewed bid tabulations <br /> and stated staff recommends awarding contract to Daniel's Dump <br /> Truck Hauling, Inc. <br /> City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1960 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING <br /> AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND <br /> DANIEL'S DUMP TRUCK HAULING, INC. FOR THE DEMOLITION OF <br /> CONDEMNED STRUCTURES; APPROPRIATING $11,200.00 TO FUND SAID <br /> CONTRACT; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO <br /> THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br /> AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> Councilman Porter suggested accelerating this program to clear <br /> up the structures which need to be placed on the list for <br /> condemnation and demolition. Councilman Sutherland stated he <br /> agreed with Alton's view. Mr. Herrera said we understand and <br /> will move forward. <br /> Councilman McLaughlin questioned awarding entire package to <br /> one bidder regardless of line item pricing. City Manager Bob <br /> Herrera suggested this issue be discussed at a Council <br /> retreat. He stated we will look at our bid package and the <br /> way we go out for bids on building demolition, and perhaps <br /> visit with some of these companies who have done work in the <br /> past for us to see how they actually bid a project. <br />
