e e Minutes Regular Meeting La Porte city council December 13, 1993, Page 6 city Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1958 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND TRI-TEX CONSTRUCTION, TO CONSTRUCT LIFT STATION 30 IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $130,500.00 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made bv Councilnerson Thrower to annrove ordinance 93-1958 as read bv the citv Attornev. Second by Councilperson Cooper. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell and Mayor Pro Tem Clarke. Nays: None 12. Brought before Council prior to item 7. 13. Consider approving an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract for demolition of six condemned structures to Daniel's Truck Hauling. Planning Director Chuck Harrington reviewed bid tabulations and stated staff recommends awarding contract to Daniel's Dump Truck Hauling, Inc. City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1960 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND DANIEL'S DUMP TRUCK HAULING, INC. FOR THE DEMOLITION OF CONDEMNED STRUCTURES; APPROPRIATING $11,200.00 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Councilman Porter suggested accelerating this program to clear up the structures which need to be placed on the list for condemnation and demolition. Councilman Sutherland stated he agreed with Alton's view. Mr. Herrera said we understand and will move forward. Councilman McLaughlin questioned awarding entire package to one bidder regardless of line item pricing. City Manager Bob Herrera suggested this issue be discussed at a Council retreat. He stated we will look at our bid package and the way we go out for bids on building demolition, and perhaps visit with some of these companies who have done work in the past for us to see how they actually bid a project.
