Council considered establishing a speed limit of 20 MPH in <br />residential areas. <br />Councilperson Sutherland made a motion to table this item. <br />Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, 7 ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, Porter, <br />Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Pro Tem Gay <br />Nays: None <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera asked Council for a matter of <br />clarification. He said, "If the Council is so inclined then <br />a motion to schedule a workshop for this coming Monday or the <br />following third Monday of the Thanksgiving month is in order." <br />Mayor Pro Tem Gay asked City Manager Robert T . Herrera to have <br />staff gather further information regarding the issue to be <br />presented at a later workshop meeting. <br />Councilperson Maxwell made a motion to have a workshop <br />regarding the 20 MPH in residential areas and leave it up to <br />the City Manager to schedule the meeting time. Second by <br />Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, Porter, <br />Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Pro Tem Gay <br />Nays: None <br />10. City Manager gave a report on the status of the fishing pier <br />at Sylvan Beach Park. He stated, "It is my understanding from <br />staff there should be construction activity at Sylvan Beach <br />the later part of this week. The problem we have is insuring <br />all of the necessary material to be received from Harris <br />County is properly placed on a barge which will be floated <br />from Sylvan Beach to the reconstruction site, as the <br />reconstruction will begin from the water side." <br />11. Councilpersons Cooper, Sutherland and Mayor Pro Tem Gay <br />brought items to Council's attention. <br />12. Council retired into executive <br />to provision of the Open Meeting <br />551.076, and 551.084, GOVT. <br />ANNOTATED, Section 551.071 - <br />Counsel lawsuit with Houston <br />reconvened the meeting at 8:49 <br />session at 6:31 P.M. pursuant <br />~s Law, Chapter 551.071 through <br />CODE, VERNON'S TEXAS CODES <br />(Legal), discuss with legal <br />Chemical Services. Council <br />P.M with no action taken. <br />
