0 • <br />Minutes Special Called <br />Regular Meeting of <br />La Porte City Council <br />November 7, 1994, Page 6 <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to approve Ordinance <br />94-2003 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />McLaughlin. The motion carried, .8 ayes and 1 nay. <br />Councilperson Maxwell asked for a roll call vote. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Thrower, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilperson Cooper <br />6. CONSIDER A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING "AN OPEN <br />LETTER TO THE CITIZENS OF LA PORTE - FROM THE MAYOR AND CITY <br />COUNCIL" CONCERNING THE SETTLEMENT OF THE SOUTHERN IONICS. <br />INC AND HOUSTON CHEMICAL SERVICES, INC. LITIGATI.ON AGAINST <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE (Res. 94-10) - R.T. Herrera <br />City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 94-10 - A RESOLUTION <br />AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING "AN OPEN LETTER TO THE CITIZENS OF <br />LA PORTE - FROM THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL" CONCERNING THE <br />SETTLEMENT OF THE SOUTHERN IONICS, INC. AND HOUSTON CHEMICAL <br />SERVICES, INC. LITIGATION AGAINST THE CITY OF LA PORTE; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to approve <br />Resolution 94-10. Second by Councilperson Thrower. The <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />14.
