Minutes of Regular Meeting La Porte City Council February 13, 1995, Page 2 4. PRESENTATION: A CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR EXCELLENCE - J. Litchfield City Manager Robert T. Herrera introduced Director of Finance Jeff Litchfield and presented a plaque and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting awarded from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the City of La Porte's comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). Mr. Herrera congratulated Mr. Litchfield and reported this is the thirteenth certificate of performance the City of La Porte has received. Director of Finance Jeff Litchfield introduced members of his staff present at tonight's meeting; Assistant Director of Finance Cynthia Alexander, Accounting Supervisor Kathy Hutton, Fixed Assets Accounting Technician Shirley Mosley, Finance Secretary Gay Walker, and Lori Commander who works with Accounts Payable Records and Document Imaging. Mr. Litchfield also named those of his staff absent from tonight's meeting; Suki Choi, Accounts Payable and Lorie Doughty, Payroll Accounting Technician. Mr. Litchfield reported that of all the municipalities in the United States only about 5% receive this certificate. Mayor Malone congratulated Mr. Litchfield on a job well done. 5. PROCLAMATION: A. THE RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS WEEK Mayor Malone read the proclamation and stated that all citizens should be more kind and considerate of others. 6. REPORT FROM BARBOURS CUT SEAFARERS CENTER PAT SHIPPPEY FATHER RANDY ALBONO Father Randy Albono was unable to attend tonight's meeting. Director of Seafarer Center Pat Shippey gave the annual report on the status and growth of the Seafarer Center (see attached Exhibit A). Mrs. Shippey invited Council and Citizens to volunteer and assist the Seafarer Center in the Center's future accomplishments.
