Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />February 13, 1995, Page 2 <br />4. PRESENTATION: <br />A CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR EXCELLENCE - J. Litchfield <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera introduced Director of Finance <br />Jeff Litchfield and presented a plaque and the Certificate of <br />Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting awarded from <br />the Government Finance Officers Association of the United <br />States and Canada (GFOA) for the City of La Porte's <br />comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). Mr. Herrera <br />congratulated Mr. Litchfield and reported this is the <br />thirteenth certificate of performance the City of La Porte has <br />received. <br />Director of Finance Jeff Litchfield introduced members of his <br />staff present at tonight's meeting; Assistant Director of <br />Finance Cynthia Alexander, Accounting Supervisor Kathy Hutton, <br />Fixed Assets Accounting Technician Shirley Mosley, Finance <br />Secretary Gay Walker, and Lori Commander who works with <br />Accounts Payable Records and Document Imaging. Mr. Litchfield <br />also named those of his staff absent from tonight's meeting; <br />Suki Choi, Accounts Payable and Lorie Doughty, Payroll <br />Accounting Technician. Mr. Litchfield reported that of all <br />the municipalities in the United States only about 5% receive <br />this certificate. <br />Mayor Malone congratulated Mr. Litchfield on a job well done. <br />5. PROCLAMATION: <br />A. THE RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS WEEK <br />Mayor Malone read the proclamation and stated that all <br />citizens should be more kind and considerate of others. <br />6. REPORT FROM BARBOURS CUT SEAFARERS CENTER <br />PAT SHIPPPEY <br />FATHER RANDY ALBONO <br />Father Randy Albono was unable to attend tonight's meeting. <br />Director of Seafarer Center Pat Shippey gave the annual report <br />on the status and growth of the Seafarer Center (see attached <br />Exhibit A). Mrs. Shippey invited Council and Citizens to <br />volunteer and assist the Seafarer Center in the Center's <br />future accomplishments. <br />
