CONSIDER <br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING <br />A REFERENDUM ELECTION <br />AND THE <br />REGULAR <br />ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: <br />CALLING A <br />RUN-OFF ELECTION, IF NECESSARY: <br />DESIGNATING ELECTION <br />PRECINCTS <br />AND POLLING <br />PLACES: PROVIDING FOR <br />THE USE OF VOTING <br />MACHINES: <br />APPOINTING <br />ELECTION OFFICIALS: <br />PROVIDING FOR METHOD <br />AND DATES <br />OF EARLY <br />VOTING PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EARLY VOTING BALLOT <br />BOARD: <br />PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID <br />ELECTION: <br />PROVIDING <br />FOR NOTICE: PROVIDING <br />FOR FILING DEADLINE <br />AND FILING <br />FEES FOR <br />CANDIDATES (Ord. 95-2016) <br />- K. Askins <br />City Attorney reviewed Ordinance 95-2016 and answered Council <br />questions. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Maxwell to approve Ordinance <br />95-2016. Second by Councilperson Sutherland. The motion <br />carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Gay, Porter, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />10. CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN EXTENSION <br />OF THE PRIME CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE AGREEMENT, WHICH <br />EXPIRES ON MARCH S. 1995, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 1995 (Ord. 95- <br />2017) - K. Askins <br />City Attorney explained background and necessity of an <br />extension on the Prime Cable Television Franchise Agreement. <br />(Exhibit A). Ms. Kathleen Abel, Director of Community Affairs <br />with Prime Cable, was in the audience and Council invited Ms. <br />Able to address Council regarding Prime Cable services and <br />upgrade. Ms. Abel answered Council questions and presented a <br />Prime Cable Channel listing of all future channels (Exhibit <br />B) . <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 95-2017 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN EXTENSION OF THE PRIME CABLE <br />TELEVISION FRANCHISE AGREEMENT, WHICH EXPIRES ON MARCH 8, <br />1995, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 1995; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve Ordinance <br />95-2017 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Thrower. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />
