9 . <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />February 13, 1995, Page 7 <br />Director of Planning Chuck Harrington reviewed summary and <br />recommendation authorizing closure and sale of the property to <br />Jordon Interests, Inc. in the amount of $8,400. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 95-2020 - AN ORDINANCE VACATING, <br />ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF THE ALLEY IN BLOCK 753, <br />TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AND EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve Ordinance <br />95-2020 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Gay. CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS ON SPENCER <br />HIGHWAY FROM SH 146 TO THE WESTERN CORPORATE LIMITS OF CITY OF <br />LA PORTE (Ord. 95-1466-F) - C. Harrington <br />Director of Planning Chuck Harrington reviewed the summary and <br />recommendation of staff to approve the ordinance establishing <br />speed limits along Spencer Highway Westbound from SH 146 to <br />1,900 feet west of South 16th Street establishing a 35 mph <br />limit. From 1,900 feet west of South 16th Street to the <br />western corporate limit to 45 mph. Eastbound from the western <br />corporate limit to 1,900 feet west of South 16th Street to a <br />limit of 45 mph. From 1,900 feet west of South 16th Street to <br />SH 146 to 35 mph. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 95-1466-F - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 25, ARTICLE 2, SECTION 25-23 OF THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />DESIGNATING MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS UPON STREETS WITHIN THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF <br />THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND <br />UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN A SUM NOT TO EXCEED TWO <br />HUNDRED DOLLARS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Maxwell to approve Ordinance <br />95-1466-F as read by the City Attorney. Second by <br />Councilperson Porter. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
