• • <br />RESOLIITION NO. 95- 04 <br />A RESOLIITION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTED <br />REQUESTING THAT THE TEAS DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE INCLUDE THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE IN THE AREA SERVICED BY THE TEBAS CATABTROPHE PROPERTY <br />INSURANCE ASSOCIATION; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br />Section 1. The City of Seabrook, Texas, has heretofore <br />petitioned the Texas Department of Insurance for inclusion in the <br />catastrophe area serviced by the Texas Catastrophe Property <br />Insurance Association. A public hearing has heretofore been held <br />by the Texas Department of Insurance in the City of La Porte. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of La Porte finds, <br />determines, and declares that residents of the City of La Porte <br />east of State Highway 146 have been unable to obtain windstorm <br />coverage through their regular insurance agents, and have had to <br />obtain such coverage in the secondary market at a much higher rate. <br />Lack of windstorm insurance coverage has impacted the redevelopment <br />of the bay area and the implementation of the Bayfront Master Plan. <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of La Porte hereby <br />requests the Texas Department of Insurance to include the City of <br />La Porte in the catastrophe area serviced by the Texas Catastrophe <br />Property Insurance Association (TCPIA). <br />Section 4. The City Secretary of the City of La Porte is <br />authorized to furnish a certified copy of this resolution to the <br />Texas Department of Insurance. <br />Section 5. The City Council officially finds, determines, <br />recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, <br />hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was <br />
